Nous sommes arrivés

We've arrived! And it's hot!

So far, all is friendly and the country seemingly has a very slow pace - people are just standing or sitting around looking as though they are doing very little except enjoying each other's company or waiting patiently to sell their wares.

I think our lives here will be great all in all but B cried when the reality hit home and she saw her new home. Then L cried because B was crying. I spoke to 2 of the other mothers tonight at dinner at the Headmaster's house and they said that their girls had cried too. There are 11 new teachers and most of them have children which is great - it makes for a really happy atmosphere!

When we got to Johannesburg this morning it was sunny but cold - just 3 degrees. Then we got to Blantyre and it was 27!! It was hot but bearable. Both South Africa and Malawi are experiencing their winters but at vastly different temperatures!

The first thing we did after we looked round our house and the girls cried was to get out our statue of Our Lady and kneel down and pray the family Rosary. Immediately after finishing, our luggage was delivered to the house (except my suitcase which did not arrive from Jo'burg and which should arrive on the next flight on Saturday!) which cheered us up and then our next door neighbours came out to greet us. They are lovely and they come from Cornwall! We hope to move to Cornwall upon our return to England... our remaining stuff is awaiting us in storage in Newquay. Anyway our neighbours are from Truro and Redruth, both not far from Newquay! Apparently there is another family from Cornwall too! Anyway, what lovely people our neighbours seem to be! We are truly blessed.
